Meghan Markle Was Quizzed on British Facts and Hilariously Failed

Meghan Markle is about to become one of the most important people in the U.K. The Suits actress is engaged to Prince Harry, and their wedding is set for spring 2018. So naturally, this means Markle will be making appearances all across the world on behalf of England. She’ll be an ambassador, so to speak—a figure who’s inextricably linked to the country.

Which is why this video from July 2016 is so, erm, ironic…in the funniest way possible. While Markle was promoting Suits last summer, she filmed a video for UKTV where she was quizzed on British facts—and she failed. Like, epically failed. The soon-to-be royal barely answered one question correctly.

It’s important to have a sense of humor about this, of course. The video was filmed right when she first met Prince Harry, so it’s understandable why she wasn’t a British expert then. And it’s still understandable why she isn’t one now. Markle is American, after all, and her relationship with Prince Harry is only a year-and-a-half old. She’s still learning about British culture and customs. You have to cut her some slack, but that doesn’t mean we can’t chuckle at this video—playfully—in the process.

Check it out for yourself, below:

Markle admitted during her first sit-down interview with Prince Harry on Monday that she wasn’t familiar with the Royal Family when they first started dating. “Because I’m from the States, you don’t grow up with the same understanding of the Royal Family,” she said. “While I now understand very clearly there’s a global interest there, I didn’t know much about [Prince Harry].”

Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding is scheduled for May 2018 at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle. Let the countdown begin.
